“Thank you so much for the huge part that For the Kid in All of Us took in making our holidays a success! Your donation of toys and gift cards to Cool Girls truly brightened the lives of children in need, as the attached photos show.
“Cool Girls is dedicated to the self-empowerment of girls in Atlanta. You were a critical part of making Cool Girls’ Annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza a huge success. The 225 girls who attended this event represented a record number of our program participants with perfect or near-perfect attendance, and the toys and gift cards gave them tangible rewards for their achievement. These rewards help to ensure that they stay in our programs and continue on the path to success. For the Kid is a valued part of our network of support that helps girls make positive choices to discover their passions, succeed in school and transform into confident young women.
“Your continued support enables us to help more girls create a world where they are valued, powerful and independent. Thank you on behalf of all the girls we serve. Please contact me if you require any additional documentation. Happy Holidays from all of us at Cool Girls!” -- Nora Spriggs, Resource Development Manager
“For The Kid In All of Us helped ensure the students at the Charles R. Drew Charter School were poised for success at the start of the school year with an incredibly generous donation of school supplies! To have heard the excited cries as the students and staff opened the boxes would truly have put a smile on your face. The coveted pens, colorful notebooks, fun pencil pouches (just to name a few items!) will be distributed to students in the After School Program which serves over 270 students in grades Pre-K through 8. Because Drew serves a predominately low income population, 78% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, this gift helps ensure all students are equipped with the tools and supplies they needs to reach their academic potential. Thank you!” -- Brittany Glenn Molinaro
“Since 2004, CHRIS Kids has been a beneficiary of more than 11 fundraising events organized by FTK. Parents or other caregivers generally cover costs associated with toys and backpacks. Unfortunately, a majority of children at CHRIS Kids have been removed from their homes, are in foster care or do not have a “typical” family structure that can provide these items. The burden that CHRIS Kids and these children/families face, particularly during the time when our children go back to school and during the holiday time is tremendous. FTK helps alleviate the challenges these families/children face.” -- Kathy Colbenson, CEO
“Due to some staffing changes and a lack of resources, our annual back to school party was in jeopardy. There just weren’t enough resources and staff to mount our usual supply drive for the roughly 100 school aged kids and grandkids of the clients of the women’s program at AID Atlanta. Approximately 68 children would not have been able to get school supplies if For The Kid had not helped us out.” -- Jon Santos, Events Manager
“Each year, Camp Horizon celebrates the holidays with the foster children served through our programs. For many, it's a time known for wearing new clothing, shoes, or other gifts received for the holidays. Unfortunately, the children served through Camp Horizon's programs typically don't receive many items to showcase after the holidays, unlike their peers. Thanks to For the Kid in All of Us, our children and teens began the second half of the school year equipped with the things they need for continued success in school, along with the feeling that they are loved.” -- Amanda Hill-Attkinson, Development Director
“Due to economic hardship and at risk environments, so many children lack the basic resources, such as a back pack and school supplies. It is the committed goal of AGAPE to assist the families and provide them with the necessary resources, so that every child can have a successful school year! It was through your donation of 100 backpacks that we were able provide families with those supplies.” -- Jessica Young, Community Organizer
“The distribution of the back packs was one of the highlights of our school year. The students were so excited and happy to receive the new back packs with the new school supplies inside. I don’t know who thought of this idea but it has certainly had a positive effect on our students. You know you have positively impacted a student when, eight months later, he remembers receiving a new back pack and sees that has a possible solution for a friend in need.” -- Nancy Said, Principal
“Our staff delivered the backpacks to the children who were delighted to get such a wonderful gift. Families in our Refugee Services Program arrive as guests of the United States State Department with little more than the clothes they can carry in a suitcase. The backpacks made these kids light up with appreciation, according to our case workers. The backpacks are a wonderful welcome gift to families new to our state, who have fled war or oppression in their home land.” -- Bob Gibeling, Volunteer Coodinator
“Receiving the 400 backpacks from FTK during such a challenging economic time last year was a great benefit to our girls and their families, many of who were struggling with unemployment. Not only were the backpacks cute in pink, but they were full of supplies that are necessary for the girls to survive their first couple of months of school. A parent of a girl from Drew Charter School was overwhelmed with joy when her daughter received a new backpack while enrolling for Cool Girls at the school’s after-school open house. Ms. Cook noted that her car had been broken into the night before and her daughter’s backpack was one of the many things that were stolen. ‘Receiving this backpack is such a blessing, you just don’t know.’” -- Sandy Welfare, Executive Director
